Job Summary

A Wood Carving / Carpenter is responsible for manually shaping, carving, constructing, repairing, and finishing wooden products using a variety of hand and power tools. The role involves producing high-quality wooden items for decorative, functional, and architectural purposes while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

The duties of a Wood Carving / Carpenter include, but are not limited to:

  • Testing wood samples for moisture content and other physical properties to ensure suitability for production.
  • Operating woodworking machinery such as saws, shapers, sanders, routers, planers, and jointers.
  • Measuring materials and marking cut lines, holes, and other features according to specifications.
  • Preparing sketches and design concepts to assist customers or management in visualizing finished products.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment by following company safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Cutting and assembling boards, cabinets, doors, staircases, window frames, moldings, and other wooden products according to drawings, plans, or verbal instructions.
  • Repairing damaged wooden items by replacing defective components or restoring surfaces through sanding and refinishing.
  • Sanding, staining, and preparing wood surfaces for finishing treatments such as varnish, lacquer, or paint.
  • Measuring and cutting wood to specified dimensions using hand tools and power equipment.
  • Ensuring all completed work meets quality standards and project requirements.
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in good working condition.

  • Salary: Starting from SCR 8,500 per month, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in wood carving, carpentry, cabinet making, or a related trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.
  • Skilled in the use of woodworking hand tools and machinery.
  • Good attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy materials when required.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

Working Conditions

Wood Carving / Carpenters typically work in workshops, manufacturing facilities, furniture production units, or commercial construction settings. The role may require standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and operating power tools and machinery.

Employees generally work regular business hours; however, overtime may be required to meet project deadlines. The work environment can be physically demanding and requires adherence to safety procedures at all times.
