JOB TITLE: Monitoring Officer x 2
DEPARTMENT: Monitoring Control and Surveillance/ Monitoring Unit
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Monitoring Officer
Job Description
Summary of Duties
To actively participate in the daily monitoring of fishing vessel as the competent fisheries authority of Seychelles. Collect, compile, analyze and report on fishing effort data. Acknowledge, verify and approve port entry requests, license applications and transshipments (at sea or in port). Assist other national agencies in fisheries related operations such as patrols, IUU interception and other activities as required by such agencies. Perform other duties as authorized fisheries officer in accordance to the Fisheries and Aquaculture Act of 2025.

Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- A Level in English, French, Geography, Law or Advanced Certificate in Fisheries Science & Fishing Technology as a bonus plus two years in a relevant field
- Background or experience with GIS a plus
- Efficient in Microsoft Excel, Database, MS Word, Outlook
Required Skills
- Fisheries Monitoring and MCS principles and practices
- Seychelles Fisheries Law and other relevant legislations
- Relevant international laws, RFMO/ RFB agreements, and Conservation and Management Measures
- Understanding of Fisheries Management, compliance monitoring and reporting obligations
- Fisheries incident investigations, evidence gathering and prosecution procedures
- Fisheries Information Systems (VMS, ERS, AIS, SAR and Satellite Imagery etc, Fisheries Database);
- Experience in report preparation, data analysis and stakeholder coordination
