Job Description

Summary of the duties and responsibilities.

• Ensure the safety of crew, passengers, cargo, vessel  and the environment at all times.
• Lead and manage all shipboard operations, fostering discipline, morale and teamwork.
• Enforce compliance with company safety, environmental and operational policies.
• Exercise overriding authority in matters of safety and pollution prevention.
• Oversee voyage planning, vessel seaworthiness and certification compliance.
• Manage voyage planning and execution ensuring vessels are fully equipped and seaworthy.
• Take command in emergencies and coordinate effective responses.
• Oversee crew training, performance appraisal and welfare onboard.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with shore management.
• Monitor vessel performance and maintenance in collaboration with engineering staff.
• Ensure all certifications, inspections and audits are up to date and compliant with regulations.

Job Requirements

Minimum job entry requirements

• Valid Master Mariner’s Certificate (STCW compliant).
• Minimum Deck Officer Class IV Certificate of Competency.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
• Solid knowledge of international maritime regulations and safety management systems.

Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience in command of vessel

• Strong team spirit, punctual and approachable.
