Job Description
Job Summary
Assist the Accountant with the day-to-day operations of the accounting functions of the Authority.
Role and Responsibilities
- Monthly Reconciliation of Commercial Bank Account;
- Ensure prompt and accurate posting into the system;(TIS Application);
- Monthly reporting of revenue status or any relevant issues relating to Accounts receivable;
- Ensure that all the deadlines for Accounts Receivable are met;
- Attend regular spot checks in line with revenue collection, banking, petty cash, records and management of assets and stores;
- Process payment of statutory benefits that are being paid outside the monthly payrolls and ensure proof for payments made are given to the Operations Department.
- Process payments for daily recoupment of cash floats maintained by the Cashiers for payments of benefits.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of payments processed in the Treasury Single Account for social benefits and those of recurrent expenditure in the absence of the Accounts Assistant.
- Process payment request for the MDA and ensure prompt submission to Treasury and liaise closely with the Financial Controller and Accounting Officer for any discrepancies noted.
- Ensure that proper accounting procedures are followed when processing payments or revenue
- Maintain the Filing records for payments and Revenue vouchers .
- Provide payments details of all assets procured to the Administration Section for proper records of the Asset Registers.
- Responsible for handling daily cash, cheque and POS collections, preparing bank deposits and cash reports, reconciling transactions daily transaction report with revenue collected,
- Responsible for conducting end-of-day cash counts with cashiers, verifying collections against reports and system totals, investigating cash discrepancies, preparing reconciliation reports, securing cash and documents, and ensuring all cash handling procedures comply with Accounting Manual.
- Any other ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.

Job Requirements
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Candidate with a Diploma in Public Financial Management/Business Studies or equivalent qualification in Accounting shall enter at B4, step 3; or
- Candidate with a Diploma in Business Studies plus AAT Level 3 shall enter at B4, step 3; or
- Candidate with a Diploma in Business Studies plus AAT Level 4 shall enter at B4, step 5; or
- Candidate with ‘A’ level in accounting or Advanced Certificate in Accounting plus three years as an Accounts Assistant shall enter at B4, step 3
