Job Description
Job Summary
The Agricultural Field Assistant (Horticulture) will support day-to-day horticultural and landscaping operations, including field preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting of ornamental plants. The role involves practical fieldwork, implementation of horticultural practices, and support to farm and training activities at SIAH.
The post holder shall be responsible and report directly to the Agribusiness Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the establishment, maintenance, and care of ornamental plants and landscaped areas
- Carry out routine field and farm operations, including planting, pruning, watering, fertilising, and pest control
- Support nursery and landscaping activities in accordance with horticultural best practices
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly manner
- Assist supervisors and technical staff with assigned horticultural and farm tasks
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental standards
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Agribusiness Manager from time to time
Job Requirements
Qualification:
- Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience as a Field/Farm Worker, preferably within SIAH
Skills and Competencies:
- Practical knowledge of horticultural and landscaping practices
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
