Assistant Purchasing Manager (Food Sector)
Job Description
To assist in managing and developing the purchasing and logistics process for a catalog of more than 6’500 products.
Main tasks and responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Monitor daily orders of fresh, dry and frozen food products
- Assist in preparing purchasing forecasts based on operational needs
- Caring for a correct and just in time introduction of supplier’s and product’s data in Mercator and File-maker
- Informing the sales department and cash & carry department regarding new products
- Ensure delivery deadlines and stock levels are respected
- Track performance indicators (raw material costs, waste, price trends)
- Update purchasing dashboards (Excel, ERP or dedicated software)
- Ensure accurate product data management within the ERP system
- Activating stocks, introducing supplier’s invoices in Mercator and transferring documents to finance
- Informing salespeople and customer order processing regarding arrival of missing products
- Caring for the supplier’s and product’s validation by custom, agriculture and veterinary authorities
Job Requirements
Profile: The ideal candidates should meet the following requirements:
- At least 4 years’ working experience in food store management
- Higher education in Economics, Logistics, or Business Management
- Perfect knowledge written and spoken of French, English and Dutch is a plus
- Must be goal oriented and have excellent knowledge of purchasing and logistics technics
- Must have strong analytical, organizational skills, punctuality and autonomy
- Must be proficient in office tools (advanced Excel) ERP system and purchasing Management software
- Strong knowledge of food products, mainly of European origin, seasonality, and standards of storage and hygiene
- Familiarity with the HORECA sector and professional kitchens
- Awareness of short supply chains and product quality
- Good interpersonal skills with operational teams and suppliers
