The Ministry of Youth and Sport is seeking a committed, trustworthy and motivated individual for the position of CHIEF POLICY ANALYST, at the Youth and Sports Department, located at Oceangate House Annex, 1st Floor, Room 150, Victoria.

Job Description

Summary of Duties:

  • Conduct policy research and provide expert advice and guidance on organisational and management-related policy matters.
  • Identify and assess policy issues, and develop evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
  • Determine appropriate analytical approaches, conduct or facilitate analyses and provide guidance on effective policy implementation.
  • Analyse policy options and alternatives, including an assessment of their potential impact.
  • Prepare high-quality written policy analyses to support government decision-making processes, including submissions to Cabinet and other committees.
  • Participate in comparative and best-practice research for policy development, coordination and review in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with relevant partners to collect, compile, and analyse data, contribute to the formulation of policies, procedures, organisational changes and the preparation of reports.
  • Provide research support, analysis, and advice aligned with the Government’s regulatory, policy and legislative agendas, including contributing to the review of proposed regulations effectiveness and relevance.

Special Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing structured processes, policies and procedures aligned with organisational and policy objectives.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience in effective team management.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess complex information.
  • Ability to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data to provide informed, actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Science, Economics, Resource Management, Law, or related field.
  • three (3) years as a Principal Policy Analyst/Principal Planning Officer;
  • or five (5) years relevant work experience;
  • or two (2) years post-qualifying working experience.
