Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for assisting in the creation and preparation of a wide variety of baked goods, desserts, and pastries. Contributes to the day-to-day operations of the pastry kitchen, ensuring that all items are produced to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation. This role requires a combination of creativity, technical skills, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and producing a range of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and other baked goods.
- Ensure that all food items are prepared according to the recipes and specifications.
- Create plated desserts and work on seasonal specials as required.
- Help manage and organize the pastry section of the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Monitor the quality and presentation of all pastry items before serving.
- Maintain stock levels and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Work closely with other members of the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with the head pastry chef to ensure efficient workflow and resolve any issues in the pastry section.
- Assist in maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen.
- Ensure that all items are produced with attention to detail, consistency, and presentation.
- Monitor the freshness of products and rotate stock accordingly.
- Assist with inventory checks and ordering ingredients.
- Follow and adhere to cost control procedures to ensure a profitable operation.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience working in a pastry kitchen, as a Demi Chef De Partie or equivalent role.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and decoration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality pastries.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
