Available Position: ONE (1) DIRECTOR – LEGAL, ENFORCEMENT & COMPLIANCE
Job Summary
Position Overview:
The Department of Environment & Natural Resources invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Director – Legal, Enforcement & Compliance. The successful candidate will oversee the management of legal, enforcement, and compliance matters within the Ministry, ensuring adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee enforcement and compliance operations within the Ministry
- Establish and coordinate procedures to ensure adherence to national legislation
- Manage environmental case files and prepare cases for prosecution
- Provide guidance on legal and enforcement matters to the Ministry and Government
- Monitor and report on the application of laws, regulations, and policies
- Contribute to the review and formulation of environmental legislation and policies
- Oversee the Green Line operations and provide regular updates

Job Requirement
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Law plus five (5) years’ work experience in enforcement and/or an environmental-related field; or
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Law plus three (3) years’ work experience in enforcement and/or an environmental-related field
Competencies and Skills
- Enforcement Management: Ability to lead and oversee enforcement operations effectively
- Legal and Regulatory Analysis: Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and ability to assess compliance
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proficiency in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Policy and Legislative Contribution: Experience in reviewing and contributing to environmental laws and policies
- Communication and Reporting: Excellent report writing, documentation, and presentation skills
- Problem-Solving and Strategic Planning: Ability to identify gaps, propose improvements, and manage complex compliance issues
- Additional Skills: Leadership, decision-making, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and continuous improvement
