Job Title: Director of Enforcement and Compliance
Section: Legal, Enforcement & Compliance
Responsible to: Principal Secretary – Environment Department
Directly Supervise:
- Office Assistant – 1 position
- Senior Legal Officer – 2 positions
- Legal Officer – 1 position
- Senior Enforcement & Compliance – 1 position
- Chief Enforcement and Compliance Officer – 1 position
Working hours: 35 hours per week (will be required to work odd hours and Public Holidays when necessary)
Job Description
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee the effective management and handling of all enforcement-related matters of the Ministry;
- Set up and coordinate procedures and compliance requirement as demanded by national legislations;
- Work collaboratively with the Legal, Enforcement and Compliance officers and relevant Heads in ensuring effective and successful response to enforcement cases and preparation of case files for prosecution;
- Provide regular reports on the state of applications of laws, regulations and policies;
- Carry out continuous gap analysis and performance improvement assessments related to enforcement of environmental legislations;
- Work collaboratively with relevant heads within the Ministry, the Attorney General’s Office and relevant stakeholders on the revision and formulation of environmental legislations;
- Provide guidance to the Ministry and government on relevant matters related to enforcement and compliance;
- Contribute to policy reviews and formulation of related environmental laws;
- Review environmental case files;
- Prosecute minor environmental cases
- Oversee and manage the green line and provide weekly report.
- To undertake and discharge any other tasks or duties related to enforcement and compliance of environmental laws.
