Responsible to: Facilities Technician Manager

Working hours: 07.00 am to 03.00 pm Mondays to Friday

May be required to work outside normal working hours attending to the exigencies of the organization.

Job Description

J0b Summary

The Facilities Technician will work under the Inner Island manager. The post holder will coordinate and undertake minor maintenance works on all facilities and sites belonging to SPGA on La Digue, Curieuse and Praslin.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the maintenance and repair programs of SPGA infrastructure/ facilities, which include housing units, offices, water storage, drainage board walks etc.
• Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and / or reduce operating cost and advise management on matters relating to maintenance of the company’s properties and assets.
• Coordinate Emergency and regular repairs to buildings, in collaboration with respective sections.
• Assist with forest fire when the need arises
• Asses the status of the facilities on the islands and make recommendations to the Inner Island Management.
• Undertake minor maintenance works on the island of Curieuse, Praslin and La Digue when possible.
• Report on work maintenance progress to the Inner Island Management.

Job Requirements

Minimum entry requirements:

• Certificate in Building Construction, Carpentry or Maintenance plus 2-3 satisfactory years of experience in building and general maintenance.
• Secondary Certificate, plus 5 years work experience;
• Any construction related level of education equivalent to the above.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Good Teamwork and Time management.
• Good interpersonal skills, innovative, and must be able to work independently on remote sites.
• Ability to use construction machineries
