Job Description

The IT Manager is responsible for leading the company’s technology strategy, ensuring maximum availability, security, and integrity of all computer systems, networks, and data infrastructure. The IT Manager directs day-to-day IT operations, manages digital transformation initiatives, and provides robust technology support and governance across the organization.  The post holder will be required to undertake the following:

Strategic Planning & Leadership:

• Develop and execute the company’s IT strategic plan, aligning technology initiatives with business goals, risk management, and growth objectives.
• Research emerging technologies, cloud solutions, and Insurtech innovations to drive operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including budgeting, vendor negotiations, procurement, and budget review.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate IT team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.

Infrastructure & Operations Management:

• Oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrading, and support of all IT infrastructure, including servers, virtualization environments, network switches/firewalls, endpoints, and peripherals.
• Ensure high availability and optimal performance of core business applications, databases, and customer-facing digital portals.
• Maintain robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans, conducting regular backups, system redundancy checks, and failover testing.
• Maintain a current and accurate inventory of information technology hardware, software licenses, and digital assets.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance:

• Implement and enforce comprehensive IT security policies, access controls, vulnerability management programs, and endpoint protection standards.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, data protection laws, and industry security frameworks.
• Coordinate regular security audits, penetration testing, and incident response drills to mitigate cyber threats.

Vendor & Project Management:

• Manage relationships with third-party service providers and telecommunications partners.
• Coordinate the end-to-end implementation, testing, and rollout of new software systems and infrastructure upgrades.
• Provide first and second-line technical support for the core systems, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal business disruption.
• Any other relevant duties assigned by executive management.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in a Computer Science related field plus 3 years of satisfactory related work experience; or
• HND in a Computer Science related field plus at least 4 years of relevant and satisfactory experience; or
• Equivalent Industry Recognized Professional Certifications (e.g., CISSP, Microsoft Certified, CCNA) as established by the Seychelles Qualifications Authority, plus at least 3 years of relevant satisfactory experience.

Experience required:

• Systems & Cloud Administration: Extensive experience administering Microsoft 365 enterprise environments, Microsoft Azure (including Azure AD / Entra ID), and hybrid cloud architectures. Deep knowledge of modern server operating systems, encompassing both Windows Server and Linux OS distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, enterprise Linux).
• Cybersecurity & Compliance: Proven background in deploying and managing advanced cybersecurity tools and frameworks. This includes hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Wazuh, Security Onion), endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions (e.g., CheckPoint Harmony), automated patch management (e.g., Action1), and enforcing strict access controls.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Expertise in enterprise data protection, disaster recovery planning, and replication strategies using Veeam Backup & Replication, alongside managing advanced NAS storage configurations.
• Core Network Infrastructure: Advanced understanding of enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, VLAN segmentation, site-to-site IPsec VPNs), with practical experience managing enterprise firewalls and network hardware (e.g., Fortinet FortiGate, Ubiquiti UniFi).
• Modern Architecture & Database Management: Familiarity with deploying containerized applications (e.g., Docker), managing reverse proxies, and overseeing relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
