Post Title: Laboratory Assistant
Section: Clinical Laboratory Services
Report To: Laboratory Technician
Job Description
Job Purpose
To prepare specimens for testing. To carry out general basic laboratory procedures for diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of diseases.
Key Outputs:
- Basic laboratory investigations done.
- Proper collection, handling and transportation of specimens carried out.
- Laboratory materials and sundries requisitioned and accounted for
- Quality assurance measures and safety precautions in the Laboratory enforced
- Laboratory data compiled and submitted
- Professional and service code of conduct adhered to
Key Functions:
- Cleaning laboratory equipment and keeping it in good condition while observing safety precautions
- Preparing specimens for testing as per procedure.
- Preparing laboratory reagents following the set protocols
- Preparing basic request under direct supervision of a laboratory technician and technologist.
- Advising Clinical Staff in collection, handling and transportation of specimens to the Laboratory.

Qualification
- Must have Secondary five (5) education certificate
- IGCSE in Combined Science or Biology
