Job Description

Job Summary

  • Provide legal support to the Commission in all matters with legal implications.;
  • Defend the Commission in cases before the Fair Trading Tribunal and other Courts of the Republic of Seychelles;
  • Assist in training of colleagues in understanding and applying relevant laws;
  • Provide support in building the Commission’s legal and investigative capacity;
  • Draft applications, affidavits, petitions, notices of motions, praecipe’s, statements of defense and submissions for cases before the Fair Trading Tribunal or other Courts of the Republic of Seychelles;
  • Advocate, litigate and prosecute cases before the Fair Trading Tribunal, including examining and cross examining witnesses, exhibiting evidence and making verbal submissions;
  • Represent the Commission in training sessions, seminars and conferences, both locally and internationally, when required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Law or related field OR
  • Advanced Diploma in Law or related field plus 2 years relevant work experience OR Diploma in Law or related field plus 2 years relevant work experience.

Preferable Skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
  • Ability to make sound and impartial and timely judgments;
  • Strong analytical, decision-making skills and problem-solving skills;
  • Professional, self-motivated and confidential;
  • Ability to plan and organize and effectively whilst ensuring optimum use of resources.
