Job Description

Purpose

This role is responsible for ensuring that all Packaging/Brewing and Utilities equipment are checked, with preventive maintenance carried out according to schedule, so that equipment is always in high operational standard and in good, safe working order.

Maintains day-to-day operation and assumes responsibility for maintaining Packaging/Brewing and Utilities equipment. Carries out breakdown repair, corrective and preventive maintenance for the smooth operation of all Packaging/Brewing and Utilities equipment across the site. Supports Packaging and Brewing during production time when both areas are in operation.

Top Accountabilities

Inspection & Maintenance

• Conducts inspections/checks on all assigned packing plants to ensure they are in good working order at all times.
• Executes corrective maintenance activity as generated by the maintenance management system.
• Undertakes preventive maintenance tasks as per schedule or when instructed by the team leader.
• Assists other engineering sections when needed.
• Undertakes any other related electrical duties as assigned by the line supervisor or manager.

Breakdown Response

• Responds immediately to any breakdown as alerted by the Packaging Supervisor, Senior Engineering Technician or packaging staff.
• Reports any major issues (e.g. machinery defects, heavy wear and tear) requiring immediate attention to the supervisor.

Work Order & Compliance Process

• Collects the maintenance kit from stores on maintenance day.
• Inspects the tool kit is in order before the start of the execution day.
• Carries out lockout/tag-out and accepts the permit to work before the start of the execution day.
• Feeds back to the supervisor on work progress and issues during execution.
• Completes work orders and T-cards and signs off Goods Issue Notes (GIN) and Goods Received Notes (GRN) at stores.
• Tests and hands over equipment with the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualifications + Experience

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (City & Guilds).
• Experience working as a Packaging Plant Electrician.
• Knowledge of packaging engineering.
• Line control electrical experience.

• Electrical/pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyse electrical schematic block diagrams and flow charts.
• Basic computer literacy.
