Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Marina Attendant is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional day-to-day operation of the Estate’s marina and waterfront facilities while providing operational leadership to Marina Attendants during assigned shifts. The role combines hands-on marina operations with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, customer service, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.

The role supports residents, guests, yacht owners, captains, and visitors by coordinating berth operations, maintaining marina infrastructure, monitoring safety compliance, and ensuring the smooth delivery of marina services. The role acts as the first point of contact for operational matters in the absence of the Marina Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marina Operations

  • Assist with the safe arrival, berthing, mooring, and departure of vessels.
  • Coordinate berth allocations and monitor marina occupancy.
  • Conduct regular inspections of pontoons, jetties, docks, gangways, mooring systems, and marina infrastructure.
  • Ensure marina facilities are clean, safe, operational, and presented to Estate standards.
  • Assist with vessel movements and operational activities as required.
  • Monitor weather conditions and communicate operational risks where necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to Marina Attendants during assigned shifts.
  • Allocate daily work assignments and monitor task completion.
  • Ensure marina staff comply with Estate policies, marina procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, grooming, and professional conduct.
  • Assist with the induction and on-the-job training of new Marina Attendants.
  • Provide operational feedback and report performance concerns to the Head of Security or Security Supervisor.
  • Lead the marina team during the absence of management.

Customer Service

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to residents, guests, yacht owners, captains, and visitors.
  • Respond promptly to operational enquiries and service requests.
  • Coordinate with Security, Maintenance, Concierge, Housekeeping, and other Estate departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Resolve routine operational issues professionally and escalate complex matters where required.

Marina Maintenance

  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all marina facilities.
  • Inspect marina equipment and infrastructure for damage or defects.
  • Report maintenance requirements promptly and monitor the completion of repairs.
  • Assist with minor maintenance duties where authorised.
  • Ensure marina equipment is stored safely and maintained in good working order.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with Estate health and safety procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of marina facilities.
  • Monitor compliance with marina operating rules and waterfront safety requirements.
  • Report hazards, accidents, fuel spills, pollution, or environmental concerns immediately.
  • Participate in emergency response activities including fire, medical, marine, security, and severe weather incidents.
  • Ensure emergency equipment remains accessible and operational.

Security Support

  • Monitor marina access points and report suspicious activity.
  • Verify authorised access to marina facilities where required.
  • Support the Estate Security team during incidents affecting the marina.
  • Protect Estate property, marina infrastructure, vessels, and customer assets.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of vessel arrivals, departures, berth occupancy, inspections, and incidents.
  • Complete daily operational checklists and shift handover reports.
  • Record maintenance requests and customer service issues.
  • Maintain inventory records for marina equipment and operational supplies. Participate in operational meetings and emergency drills.

Job Requirements

Qualification

Education

  • Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Marina Operations, Marine Services, Hospitality, or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in marina operations, waterfront facilities, marine services, hospitality, or a similar environment.
  • Previous experience leading or coordinating a small operational team is advantageous.
  • Experience working within a residential estate, marina, yacht club, or resort environment is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Sound knowledge of marina operations and berth management.
  • Basic understanding of vessel handling and mooring procedures.
  • Knowledge of marina safety and emergency response procedures.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a small team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to identify operational risks and resolve problems effectively.
  • Competent in maintaining operational records and basic computer applications.

  • Rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • May be required to respond to operational or emergency situations outside normal working hours.
