Post Title: Principal Trade & Marketing Officer
Reporting to: Director General – Fisheries
Job Description
General Purpose
Lead the Trade and Marketing Section to develop, advise, negotiate and implement trade and marketing strategies for the fisheries sector to facilitate informed decision-making.
Preliminary duties:
- Co-ordinates the preparation of fisheries sector development and management plans as an integral part of the national planning process;
- Participate in policy formulation for the sector;
- Advice on trade-related issues that have a bearing on the fisheries policy and make recommendations for addressing these issues;
- Undertake, when required, specific trade-related studies associated with the fishing sector;
- Provide trade inputs related to fisheries into the National Development Plans so as to achieve the desired fisheries management objectives;
- Advice Government on trade and market issues related to fisheries;
- Participate in bilateral and regional trade negotiations, including national and international conferences and workshops;
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports

Job Requirement
Recognised qualifications and requirements for the post
Minimum entry
- Master’s Degree in economics, trade or business related field with at least 2 years relevant working experience as a Senior Trade Officer or Senior Marketing Officer;
- Bachelor Degree in economics, trade or business related field with at least three years relevant working experience as a Senior Trade Officer or Senior Marketing Office
