Coastal Hardware is seeking a motivated, analytical and experienced Procurement Analyst to join our team.

Job Summary

The Procurement Analyst will be responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement process, ensuring that Coastal Hardware maintains adequate stock levels at competitive costs and in line with customer demand. The role will work closely with suppliers, internal teams and management to monitor purchasing trends, analyse sales and stock movement, negotiate pricing, coordinate imports and support effective inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Planning

• Analyse inventory requirements and develop procurement plans to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to forecast demand and adjust purchasing strategies.
• Monitor market trends and supply chain conditions and proactively address potential issues.
• Review purchasing trends and make recommendations based on sales and inventory data.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
• Identify new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality products.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Resolve discrepancies, delays and other supplier-related issues.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyse procurement data, sales trends and slow-moving stock.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Prepare reports on procurement activities, inventory levels, stock movement and supplier performance.
• Use data-driven insights to support purchasing decisions and improve inventory turnover.

Inventory Management

• Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize overstocking and stockouts.
• Monitor inventory levels and adjust orders accordingly.
• Support effective inventory control from receiving through to storage.
• Ensure inventory is properly managed to reduce waste and unnecessary costs.
• Assist with maintaining an efficient storage and merchandising system.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts and invoices.
• Assist with audits and other compliance-related activities.
• Ensure proper documentation for imported stock and procurement transaction.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Matric Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Retail Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within a hardware store, retail or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of inventory control, stock management and merchandising.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of hardware products, tools and materials will be an advantage.
