Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Determine manpower, machinery, equipment and material requirements (red soil, compost, plants, irrigation materials, coconut husk and other inputs).
• MATERIAL READINESS: Require a rolling two-week look-ahead of plants, trees, soil, irrigation components and repair materials. Liaise with Procurement on lead times; inspect deliveries for quantity/quality; record consumption and minimize damage, loss and wastage. Escalate shortages before they delay works.
• Coordination of guest/staff access, phased work zones, delivery windows, secure storage, protection of existing features and services, dust/noise limits, waste removal and interaction with other renovation contractors.
• PRE-START SURVEY: Inspect and photograph existing landscaping, irrigation networks, utilities, structures and damage before works commence. Maintain an area-by-area condition and reinstatement schedule; identify services and risks before excavation or removal.
• Prepare the project programme showing activities, priorities, responsible persons, start and target completion dates.
• Lead, supervise and develop project supervisors, team leaders and project crews.
• Set daily and weekly targets, and monitor attendance and performance in liaison with HR.
• Evaluate the manager on programme delivery, workmanship/defects, labour productivity, material readiness/wastage and budget control, with safety and protection of hotel facilities as non-negotiable requirements. Targets should be agreed at mobilisation.
• Identify training needs, including irrigation, installation and machinery skills.
• Manage landscape construction, soil preparation, planting, lawn installation, irrigation installation, hard and soft landscaping and other contracted project works.
• The manager must be physically present during key installation works, hold daily toolbox/task briefings, check teams understand targets and standards, inspect work before subsequent stages and resolve site issues immediately. Make the role primarily site-based, not office-based.
• Monitor progress against the programme and take corrective action on delays.
• Plan zone-by-zone installation and reinstatement around hotel opening dates, contractor interfaces and client priorities. Publish daily and weekly targets, track planned vs actual completion and promptly implement recovery plans for delayed areas.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture or Construction / Project Management; a project management qualification (for example PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
• Valid Seychelles driving license; health and safety training (for example IOSH) advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years in related field.
• Prioritize proven hands-on installation delivery, drawing interpretation, irrigation/planting quality control, labour planning and solving site problems. A strong experienced practitioner may be preferable to a qualification-heavy office manager.
• Minimum 3 years managing project supervisors, crews and subcontractors.
