Job Description
Job Purpose:
To provide professional psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery support services to individuals affected by substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, ensuring evidence-based, client-centred interventions that promote recovery, resilience and reintegration.
The Psychologist is responsible for undertaking comprehensive psychological assessments, developing and implementing individualised treatment plans, providing therapeutic interventions, contributing to multidisciplinary case management, and supporting prevention, rehabilitation and harm reduction programmes in line with APDAR’s mandate.
The post holder is also responsible for providing professional supervision, mentoring and performance support to Provisional Psychologists, ensuring compliance with professional standards, ethical practice and continuous professional development.

Key Functions
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using appropriate clinical interviews, psychometric assessments and evidence-based psychological tools.
- Assess, diagnose and formulate psychological, behavioural and emotional disorders, including substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, in accordance with recognised diagnostic standards.
- Develop, implement, review and evaluate individualised psychological treatment, rehabilitation and recovery plans.
- Provide evidence-based psychological interventions including individual, family and group therapy using appropriate therapeutic approaches.
- Support clients throughout treatment, rehabilitation, relapse prevention and community reintegration.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary case conferences and contribute to integrated case management and care planning.
- Provide psychological consultation and advice to other APDAR professionals and partner agencies.
- Identify clients requiring specialised psychiatric, medical or social interventions and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely clinical documentation, case notes, treatment plans and psychological reports.
- Prepare court reports, professional opinions and appear in court when required within the scope of professional practice.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring and professional guidance to Provisional Psychologists, interns and psychology trainees in accordance with professional standards.
- Monitor the quality of psychological services provided by Provisional Psychologists and support their professional development towards registration requirements.
- Participate in programme planning, service development and implementation of evidence-based psychological interventions across prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and harm reduction programmes.
- Conduct psychological education sessions for clients, families, staff and community groups.
- Participate in research, programme monitoring, evaluation, audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development, review and implementation of clinical guidelines, SOPs, protocols and psychological practice standards.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, professional codes of conduct, confidentiality requirements and relevant legislation.
- Participate in emergency psychological interventions, crisis response and critical incident management where required.
- Participate in continuous professional development, clinical supervision and mandatory organisational training.
- Perform any other duties consistent with the position as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements
Person Specification
- Qualification
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or equivalent recognised postgraduate qualification in Psychology from a recognised institution.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional regulatory authority.
- Valid practising licence where applicable.
- Experience
- Experience in clinical psychology, mental health or substance use services would be an advantage.
- Experience in supervising provisional psychologists or psychology trainees would be an advantage.
