Island Conservation Society (ICS), a not-for-profit conservation NGO, has the following positions for qualified, experienced, reliable, self-motivated and dynamic persons to engage in a challenging conservation career.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities 

Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the ICS’ communication strategy programme, marketing, and public relations (PR) efforts. He/she should ensure that communication is cohesive, effective and consistent in supporting the Organisation’s mission, strategic goals and key messages to external stakeholders.

Location: The position is based at the Head Office, Pte Larue, Mahé.

Job Requirement

  • A degree in Media and Communications, Education or a related field.
  • 3 years’ minimum experience in media, communication, outreach and public relations.
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful media and communications programme as well as public relations activities.
  • Strong relationships with a variety of media companies, businesses, organisations and institutions.
  • Experience in being the spokesperson for an organisation.
  • Experience and skills in developing media materials such as documentaries, newspaper articles, snippets for social media sites, to name a few.
  • Experience with social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Weebly.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Presentations skills and experience in delivering presentations and running educational sessions with a mix of audiences.
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Strong methodical problem solver.
  • Proven experience using computer systems and software.
  • Attention to detail with accuracy and able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn.

Other considerations: The ideal candidate will be able to physically and mentally cope with the rigours of working in a remote location. Applicants should also have good awareness of safety issues and be comfortable living and working in small team with other people from a range of cultures. The successful applicant will be resilient, self-motivated, and be able to get along with other team members.
