Purchasing Manager

Job Description

In order to manage and develop the purchasing and logistics process for a catalog of more than 5’500 products.

Main tasks and responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Actively participating to the management team’s meetings and the execution of decisions made
  • Sourcing new suppliers and products on basis of identified market needs
  • Negotiating purchasing and ordering conditions and closing deals
  • Caring for a correct and just in time introduction of supplier’s and product’s data in Mercator and File-maker
  • Informing sales people and cash & carry people regarding new products
  • Identifying stock needs and preparing orders accordingly
  • Managing full ordering and goods handling process
  • Optimizing transport conditions for reducing costs
  • Monitoring logistics and transport of orders
  • Managing and settling claims to suppliers
  • Defining pricing of products and producing labels
  • Activating stocks, introducing supplier’s invoices in Mercator and transferring documents to finance
  • Informing sales people and customer order processing regarding arrival of missing products
  • Coaching and developing members of the purchasing team in order to let them grow in terms of skills and knowledge
  • Caring for the supplier’s and product’s validation by custom, agriculture and veterinary authorities

Job Requirements

Profile: The ideal candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Education level : BAC + 3 minimum
  • At least 5 years working experience in similar position in the food sector
  • Must have a strong knowledge and appreciation of European food
  • Perfect knowledge written and spoken of French and English, Dutchis a plus
  • Must be goal oriented and have excellent knowledge of purchasing and logistics technics
  • Must have strong analytical and business skills
  • Must be proficient in Excel
  • Must be proficient in using an ERP system
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Capacity to make decisions
  • Accurate sense of details
  • Team spirit
