Job Description

Job Purpose

To assist the Director Quality Assurance & Compliance in the performance of his/her duties effectively. This includes the following:

  • Assessing the needs and requirements of the disabled nationwide relating to standards in services and safety regulations and ensure that they are being met effectively.
  • Undertaking home visits and routine inspections of all facilities providing care and services for persons with disabilities and elderlies to ensure that the standards and safety regulations are in place and are being always followed.
  • Reporting back, in a timely manner, after visits and routine check-ups.
  • Managing and supervising the Helpline duties for the Elderly & Disabled Division.

Functional

  • Assist with home visits of persons with disabilities and elderlies in the community and undertake routine inspections of the Vocational Training Centre (VTC) and all Elderly Homes and any other facility providing services for older persons and persons living with a disability to ensure that the standards and safety regulations are in place and are being always adhered to.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and safety regulations concerning anything that has to do with persons with disabilities and older persons.
  • Support in the development of tools to be used for accreditation of standards for both elderlies and person living with a disability.
  • Participate in development and implementation of standards in accordance with the best national and international practices e.g; Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the United Nations Principles for Older Persons – OHCHR.
  • Monitor the systems in place to manage external service providers to ensure safe and high-quality care and service delivery.
  • Monitor that the service providers have infection control, emergency and disaster management plans and support a safe and well-prepared practice environment.
  • Provide support and work co-operatively with other ministries/departments/agencies to implement changes relating to standards and safety regulations.
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the Director Quality Assurance & Compliance Officer for the Disabled and Elderly.

  • Working knowledge of tools, methods and concepts of quality assurance and compliance.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Diploma in Social Work, or Quality Assurance, or Governance and Compliance or a Certificate in Social Work, Quality Assurance, Governance and Compliance
  • Ability to communicate well, verbally with both internal and external customers.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work with a degree of autonomy and to use one’s own initiative.
