Project Description
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) began conducting Labour Force Survey in 2014. This survey aims to generate unemployment statistics and monitor key labour market dynamics in Seychelles.
To continue this national exercise in 2026, NBS is seeking for temporary field data collectors (aged 18 and above) to assist with collecting data from selected households on a casual employment basis.
Job Description
Enumerators will be assigned a sample of randomly selected households to interview, in designated districts across Mahe, Praslin & La Digue. For the 2026 contract period, data collection will take place during the 3 rd week of each month, from January to December 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend all compulsory training sessions
- Demonstrate proficiency in data collection using tablets
- Use maps effectively for field navigation
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors for receiving assignments and submitting completed work
- Collect data accurately and within the specified timeframe
Benefits
Contract
Successful candidates will be engaged on a casual employment contract, outlined in a Terms of Reference document specifying the duration, job duties, remuneration, and other relevant conditions.
This document must be signed by both the recruited individual and the Bureau.
Payment Conditions
Payments will be made directly to the enumerator’s bank account upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- Submission of work that meets the required quality standards
- Return of all issued work tools in good condition

Job Requirements
Qualifications & Skills required
- Minimum education level: Secondary 5 completed
- Prior survey or census data collection experience is an advantage but not mandatory
- Ability to collect data using electronic devices; computer literacy
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a supervised team
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to walk long distances during fieldwork
- Good communication skills
Duration: January – December 2026, with potential renewal for subsequent years.
