Job Summary

To assess and comment on Architectural aspects of Planning Applications and to conduct site visits to assess feasibility of development proposals and develop architectural and construction related concepts and guidelines to promote best practices. The post holder will review and examine certain proposals and provide alternative design solutions on request by Planning Authority Board and Planning Authority CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and develop plans consistent with Planning Authority’s vision
• Responsible for high level communication and coordination
• Establish basic criteria for the work scope development
• Ensure that all work meets regulatory authority requirements and established schedules and budget margins
• Assess and comment on Planning Applications of substantively large complex or complex design.
• Prepare building and construction guidelines (e.g.: Housing Estate Extension)
• Prepare and present design proposals upon the request of Planning Authority Board or any other department of the Ministry
• Assist in conducting preliminary studies of proposed projects to obtain information as to space and design requirement and making sketches preliminary to the preparation of drawing
• Advise clients on the practicality of their building designs
• Prepare conceptual designs related to development plans working alongside Urban Planner
• Design architectural concepts to show case effective use of space to comment efficient development and land use
• Provide expert advice and handle multiple projects, innovate and communicate different degrees of technical details effectively across multiple departments
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or Board of the Planning Authority

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in Architecture plus 2 years as Architect or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture plus 3 years as Architect
• Must have expert knowledge of building products, construction materials and details, relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
• Must have Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precise technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
• Must have Knowledge of methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings or other structures such as highways, walls, road
• Must have expert knowledge of architecture, architectural principles and techniques, methods and techniques of CAD design
• Must have strong knowledge of the latest IT Systems, legislation and best practices and excellent design and drafting skills with proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD)
• Must be able to use different architectural medium, technical tools and technology in designs and concepts
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral and, strong mathematical and analytical skills, a high level of creativity, imagination and vision in designing
• Must have a keen interest in the built environment and the dedication to see projects to their completion
• Must be willing and able to work under pressure
• Must have a keen eye for detail of specific tasks, combined with an understanding of how such specifics fit in with the project as a whole
• Must have Organizational, project management and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks, to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and initiate design solutions
• Strong imagination and ability to think and create in three dimensions
• Skill in drafting architectural plans of different concepts and design
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills and must be good at meeting deadlines
• Excellent presentation skills in order to communicate complex technical ideas in a straightforward way

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must have strong portfolio to prove artistic skills
• Must be in possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license with the ability to drive
