Island Conservation Society (ICS), a leading not-for-profit conservation Non-Government Organisation registered in Seychelles, is seeking applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Senior Conservation Officer on Silhouette Island.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the management of one or more conservation centres located on one or more inner outlying islands or atolls in Seychelles.
• Candidate will have specific responsibility for biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem rehabilitation, fauna poaching mitigation and the planning and implementation of tailor-made work plans.
• Candidate will be expected to reside on the island and be responsible for the supervisor and training, if necessary, of all other ICS Conservation staff on the island.

Remuneration

• The position is for a two-year contract with a remuneration of R318,000 per annum, annual salary review and subject to usual statutory deductions.
• Board and accommodation on the island are provided free of charge.

Job Requirement

Minimum Requirement

• University undergraduate degree in ornithology, biology, conservation/environmental sciences or closely related fields with considerable and relevant working experience.

Preferred

• Postgraduate degree in the above subjects and considerable field experience.

Desirable

• Certification and demonstrable experience as a motor boat operator.
• Certification as an open Water Scuba Diver with a minimum of 100 logged dives.
• Basic First Aid training from the Red Cross Society of other reputable training institution.
