Shop Assistant / Cashier
Job Description
To deliver exceptional customer service in a high-volume supermarket, ensuring precise cash handling and optimal presentation of fresh, frozen and dry premium products
- Unpack, shelf and rotate bulk stock, dry foods and catering equipment while adhering to strict FIFO standards for fresh goods
- Greet, guide customers and provide them with relevant information
- Manage transactions with customers using the company ERP system “Mercator”
- Scan goods purchase, handle multiple currency payments and ensure price is accurate
- Process credit card or corporate account transactions via the computerised POS system
- Issue receipts, change and refund upon merchandise returns (if not perishables)
- Balance the cash register at the end of the day and ensure all receipts reconcile with sales and cash transactions
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- 2 years’ work experience as a retail cashier with strong numerical skills
- Basic Computer literacy and ability to process transactions under pressure
- Familiar with electronic equipment like cash register and POS
- Strong communication, fluency in Creole, English and French
- Customer satisfaction-oriented and time management skills
- Capability to stand for long hours and safely handle or lift heavy boxes and bulk crates
