The Office of the Ombudsman invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the above position.
Job Description
The Investigation Officer will assist the Ombudsman and the Office of the Ombudsman in handling complaints, preliminary enquiries, alternative dispute resolution processes and investigations undertaken by the Office of the Ombudsman.
The postholder will undertake complaint assessment, information gathering, evidence collection, legal and factual analysis, preliminary enquiries and investigative work under appropriate supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, assess and process complaints and enquiries.
- Conduct preliminary assessments to identify issues relevant to the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction.
- Gather, analyse and evaluate evidence, records and other relevant materials.
- Conduct interviews and obtain statements from complainants, respondents, witnesses, officials and other relevant persons.
- Assist in identifying matters suitable for informal resolution, mediation, conciliation or other ADR processes.
- Prepare case summaries, investigative analyses, draft correspondence, findings and recommendations for supervisory review.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Law Degree with at least three years’ relevant professional experience, including experience in constitutional law, administrative law, public law, investigations, regulatory, oversight or accountability functions.
