The Ministry of Youth and Sports is seeking a committed, trustworthy and motivated individual for the position of SENIOR PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER.

Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

• Lead and implement the Ministry’s public relations and communication function, coordinating with the National Sports Council (NSC), the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC), and other portfolio entities, in line with Government and Ministerial direction.
• Advise on and implement promotional strategies, campaigns, and outreach activities to manage media positioning, public messaging, and reputational risk,
• Serve as the main media and public information contact, including press releases, briefings, interviews, and press conferences.
• Develop and produce communication and publicity materials, including newsletters, reports, social media, and web content, across traditional and digital platforms.
• Support communication for Ministry events, official functions, and VIP/diplomatic visits, including accompanying the Minister when required.
• Manage sensitive messaging and crisis communication promptly and professionally.
• Compile, disseminate, and monitor media and public sentiment on Ministry programmes to identify and assess emerging risks and respond accordingly.
• Maintain accurate records of media coverage and official communications in accordance with confidentiality and compliance requirements.

Job Requirements

• Strong public relations and media management skills.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality written, digital, and multimedia content.
• Experience in event communication, stakeholder engagement, and crisis communication.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• High level of discretion, professionalism, confidentiality and sound judgement.
• Proficiency in English, French, and Creole.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours and respond to time-sensitive requests

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s Degree in Public Relations or a related field, plus five (5) years’ experience as a Public Relations Officer / Information or Communication Officer.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations or a related field, plus five (5) years’ experience as a Public Relations Officer / Information or Communication Officer; or
