Job Description
Job Summary
- Responsible for the welfare and comfort of the clients and has to give at all times actual precise and relevant information during the excursions.
Responsibilities
- Accompany all tours and excursions operated by the company.
- Act as a ‘Group Leader’ the Guide must ensure that all tours and excursions will be carried out under his/her personal supervision and according to the itinerary.
- Provide personal service in consideration of the following.
- Welcome tourist on arrival.
- Personal introduction and explanation of the tour or excursion.
- Always maintain a happy disposition.
- Showing enthusiasm during work.
- Treating all clients equally.
- Speaking in Creole only if clients are not near you. Please note that speaking in a language clients do not understand can create a barrier between the clients and the guide.
- Be on duty one hour prior to departure of all the company’s tours and excursions.
- Ensuring that all clients are safely on the right bus to their hotels before departing after each excursion.
- Accompany Designated Tours and Excursions.
- Ensure that tours and excursions will be conducted under his/her personal supervision and according to the itinerary.
- Give an example of a very personal service:
- Welcoming clients on arrival.
- Introduce yourself and explain the tours and excursions.
- Always looking happy.
- Showing enthusiasm during the tours.
- Behave towards all clients equally.
- Not speaking in Creole in front of clients.
- Not chewing gums during tours and excursions.
- During meals always help yourself last. If any clients do not want to eat enquire why.
- Ask clients if they enjoyed the tour or excursion and wish them good-bye.
- Responsible to operate the assigned tour or excursion as per the weekly duty roster.
Professional InvolvementÂ
- Keep abreast with the knowledge of Seychelles’s natural attractions and environment e.g. fauna and flora.
- Be au fait with the personal experience of tours and excursions operated by the company and have a sound knowledge of itineraries and services provided.
- Remain abreast with all tourism related development, e.g. new hotels and restaurants.
- Solve work related problems in liaison with Customer Services and other responsible departments of the company.
- Provide prompt reports on problems encountered.
Relationship
- Maintain a good working relationship with authorities and all partners of the company
- Assist as Hostess at hotel desk, representative whenever required
- Any other related duties that may be assigned
Job Requirements
EDUCATION (KNOWLEDGE):
- Diploma in Tourism & Tour Guiding, O level in English and French. Knowledge of a third language namely German or Italian is a must.
TRAINING (SKILLS):
- Good knowledge of the Seychelles Products
- Computing Skills
- Public Relations skills
- Research skills
- Good knowledge of the destination in all its aspects
- Knowledge of the different markets
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one year related working experience
- Experience in reservations or accounting
 PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- Pleasant
- Good PR person
- Dynamic and able to work under pressure
- Good team spirit
- Punctual/reliable
WORKING HOURS
6 days a week with one day off per week. Hours to coincide with tours and Excursion schedules.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Can be requested whenever required to assist outside normal working hours and normal working days.
