Environmental Protection and Sustainability Coordinator
Job Description
Job summary
Plays a crucial role in ensuring an organisation’s adherence to environmental, climate control and Sustainability regulations and standards. This includes monitoring and managing wildlife, waste, pest control, carbon emission, water and sustainable measures, green initiatives and regulated overall environmental protection of Airports.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining airport environmental management systems to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversees the daily control and mitigation of wildlife activities in line with regulator, customer and company requirements.
- Record and monitors all environmental related activities.
- Evaluate data/information derived from the monitoring, with a view to finding solutions to mitigate environmental impact including wildlife activity in the airport vicinity.
- Preparation and dissemination of reports and information on environmental matters.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Participate in any variety of meetings and workgroups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
- Review of Environment and Sustainable Development Policies, Wildlife Hazard Management Programme, and other related policies.
- Conducting environmental assessments and audits, including air and water quality monitoring, waste management, wildlife risks assessments and pollution and contamination assessments.
- Developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures, including waste management plans, energy conservation plans, and pollution prevention programs.
- Coordinating and collaborating with other departments and external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and laws.
- Educating and training employees, contractors, and other stakeholders on environmental issues and best practices.
- Investigating and addressing environmental complaints, violations, and incidents.
- Providing guidance and support for Airport environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and other regulatory requirements.
- Keeping updated with changes in environmental laws and regulations and ensuring that the organization complies with new regulations.
- Managing and monitoring major Airport projects’ environmental impacts and supporting project managers.
- Participating in emergency response activities, such as spills and other environmental incidents.
- Communicating regularly with management and other stakeholders, providing environmental performance and compliance updates.
- Perform other departmental duties related to the position as directed by the Manager Airport Planning, Performance and Transformations.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental management systems, Occupational Health and Safety, or Airport Operations.
- Excellent Knowledge in Environmental Management Systems
- Understands the various impacts of Wildlife on Airport Operations
- Has a robust understanding of environmental regulations, laws, and sustainable practices.
- At least 2 years work experience in Environmental Risk Management or Preservation role,
- or
- At least 3 years’ work experience in related Airport Operations role
