The Office of the Ombudsman invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the above position.
Job Description
The Senior Investigation Officer will assist the Principal Investigation Officer and the Ombudsman in the effective handling, supervision and quality assurance of complaints, preliminary enquiries and investigations undertaken by the Office of the Ombudsman.
The postholder will supervise and support Investigation Officers, coordinate matters allocated to them, and assist in managing complex and systemic matters. The role includes supporting the Ombudsman and Principal Investigation Officer in preparing and conducting preliminary enquiries and ADR processes, while ensuring that matters are handled fairly, impartially and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise complaints, preliminary enquiries and investigations allocated by the Ombudsman.
- Supervise, guide and support Investigation Officers.
- Assess complaints and make recommendations on suitability for informal resolution, mediation, conciliation or other ADR processes.
- Gather and review information, documentation and evidence relevant to complaints and investigations.
- Assist in arranging and coordinating meetings, discussions and processes directed by the Ombudsman.
- Review draft findings, recommendations, reports and proposed resolutions prepared by Investigation Officers.
- Promote confidentiality, integrity and effective records management.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Law Degree with at least eight years’ relevant professional experience, including substantial experience in constitutional law, administrative law, public law, investigations, oversight and accountability functions; or
- Admitted Attorney-at-Law with at least five years’ post-qualification experience in constitutional law, administrative law, public law, litigation, investigations, oversight and accountability functions.
